Cookie policy
This document explains what cookies and similar storage technologies we use on cernovsky.com, who else processes them, what we use them for, the legal basis we rely on, and how you can change your mind at any time.
1. Who runs this site
The controller of any personal data processed via cookies is Cernovskymedia s.r.o., registered office in Prague, Czech Republic, ID 14196565, VAT CZ14196565, registered with the Municipal Court in Prague. Founder: Tomáš Černovský.
Contact for cookie-related questions: tomas@cernovsky.cz.
2. What is a cookie?
A cookie is a small text file a website saves on your device through your browser. It lets the site remember things between visits — for example that you have already declined non-essential cookies, that you arrived from a specific ad, or which language you prefer. For the purposes of this policy we treat localStorage, sessionStorage, pixel tags, and similar device-side identifiers the same way as cookies.
3. Categories we use
We split cookies into four categories. Strictly necessary cookies always run — without them the site does not work. The other three categories load only after you consent through our cookie banner. You can mix and match (for example, allow analytics but not advertising) using the "Customize" option.
3.1 Strictly necessary
These cookies make the site function: they store your cookie consent, prevent automated abuse, and keep the hosting layer secure. Their use is based on our legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) in running a working, secure website, and on compliance with our legal obligations (Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR) where security logs are required.
3.2 Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages perform, where our traffic comes from and how visitors engage. The data is aggregated — we do not build individual visitor profiles. Loaded only with your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR).
3.3 Advertising
We run paid campaigns on Meta, Google Ads, and LinkedIn. These platforms set cookies to measure conversions, attribute results to campaigns, and show you our ads on other sites if you have shown interest in our content. Loaded only with your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR).
3.4 Functional
Optional cookies that remember small preferences to make the experience nicer (e.g. video playback state, dismissed notices). Loaded only with your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR).
4. Third-party processors
When you consent to non-essential cookies, you also consent to processing by the third parties listed in the tables above. The most relevant ones are:
- Google Ireland Ltd. (Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland) — Google Analytics 4, Google Ads, Google Tag Manager. Some processing is performed by Google LLC in the United States; Google participates in the EU–US Data Privacy Framework, which is the legal basis for these transfers.
- Meta Platforms Ireland Ltd. (4 Grand Canal Square, Dublin 2, Ireland) — Meta Pixel and conversions API for Meta Ads. Same Data Privacy Framework basis applies for US-located processing.
- LinkedIn Ireland Unlimited Company (Wilton Plaza, Dublin 2, Ireland) — LinkedIn Insight Tag for B2B ads.
- Cloudflare Inc. (101 Townsend Street, San Francisco, USA) — DNS and CDN edge that protects the site; participates in the Data Privacy Framework.
- Vercel Inc. (440 N Barranca Avenue, Covina, USA) — hosting platform; participates in the Data Privacy Framework.
5. How to change your choice
By default we run only strictly necessary cookies. Analytics, advertising, and functional categories load only after you click Accept all or pick categories under Customize. You can change or withdraw your consent at any time from this page:
Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing that took place before the withdrawal.
We honour your choice for 13 months, in line with the European Data Protection Board guidance and CNIL recommendation on the maximum lifespan of consent. After that we ask again. We also re-prompt sooner if we add a new processor or category that requires fresh consent.
6. Browser-level controls
You can also block or delete cookies in your browser. The site will still work, although third-party content elsewhere on the web may break — that is the trade-off. Direct links to vendor instructions:
Browsers also offer a private / incognito mode that discards cookies after the session ends.
7. Your rights
You have a full set of rights under GDPR — access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, objection, and the right to withdraw consent. The full list, with the procedure for using them, is in our Privacy policy.
You may also lodge a complaint with the Czech Office for Personal Data Protection (Úřad pro ochranu osobních údajů, Pplk. Sochora 27, 170 00 Praha 7, uoou.cz).
8. Changes to this policy
We update this policy whenever we change the cookies, processors, or retention periods we use. The current version is always available at cernovsky.com/cookies. The previous banner choice may be reset if categories or processors change in a way that requires re-consent.
